I am Karen Farson, a teacher at Grant TK-8. We have a teacher who is in need. Our beloved middle school math teacher, Kady Hanson Jones fell prey to a scam.
Kady is a dedicated teacher who gives back to the community in so many ways. In the 11 years she has worked at our school, she has become a favorite teacher who prepares students well for high school and beyond. She has run ASB, been a counselor for the restorative justice program, and touched hearts and minds for many years.
Money has been tight for the last few years for Kady and her husband. Though they had a small savings, they have been living paycheck to paycheck. Her husband was recently laid off from his job as a security guard and hers was their sole income.
On Monday morning, Kady received a phone call saying it was the fraud department of her bank and they needed to confirm that she had not made the fraudulent purchases. Unfortunately, this was a very elaborate scam and they ended up taking $9,000 from her combined savings and checking. She is working with the police and her bank and was able to get back $1,000, but we would like to raise money to not only get her through, but to give her a little cushion during this stressful time.
Former students and parents of former students, if you can spread the word, it would be greatly appreciated.
