Hi, my name is Leah, and I am trying to help my friend Jennifer raise money towards her son's medical bills.
On Saturday 7/5/25, Jens 2 sons Gage (13) and Kade (7) were in a 4 wheeler accident. Fortunately Gage was ok, only needed stitches to his forehead and was able to go home.
Unfortunately, Kade wasn't so lucky. He was sent to Mayo in Eau Claire and was intubated to protect his airway. They did multiple CT scans, and xrays that showed a broken femur, tibia, 4 pelvic fractures, 2 broken ribs, a lung contusion, and a small area of his lung that had collapsed. Because of the extent of his injuries, he was flown by helicopter to Rochester.
On 7/6, they had found that Kade also had a broken Tibia (all 3 bones in his leg are broken). He had surgery to place pins and screws. This will need to be removed in about 12 months. During surgery, he needed a blood transfusion, and medications to raise his blood pressure. They were unable to close a laceration to his leg due to swelling, but will be taking him for another surgery on Tuesday to try to close it.
On 7/7, Kade had an MRI, that did not give the results we were hoping for. His neck has torn ligaments that hold his spinal column in place, and he will need to wear a neck brace for 3 months. It also showed that he has 6 areas that have axonal brain injuries (shearing injuries of neurons) and at this time, we do not know what long term effects there may be.
What we do know is that Kade has a long road ahead of him, filled with appointments, therapies, surgeries, and we don't know how long he will be in the hospital for. The hospital bills will unfortunately continue to grow, and Jen is likely going to be taking time off from work, which means loss of income.
Anyone who Knows Jen, knows she is not one to ask for help, but is always one to give it. But right now she needs to be able to focus on her son and not worry about medical bills and it would be great if we can alleviate some of this from her and her family. Thank you!
