Hi everyone,
My name is Kacy Miller, and along for help is never easy for me- but I'm at a point in my life where I truly need support.
I'm currently living in stove housing, and having a safe, stable place to call home has been essential to my recovery. Without it, I'm at a very real risk of becoming homeless again- something I'm fighting every day to prevent. This home has given me structure, security, and the chance to keep moving forward in my sobriety, and losing it would be devastating.
Over the past year, my health has declined significantly. I've been unable to work for over a year due to degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and server chronic pain. I can only stand or walk for short periods of time, and I rely on a came or walker just to get around. I also have neuropathy on the entire right side of my body, which daily activities even more challenging.
Dockers expect that I will likely need two major surgeries- one on my lower back and one on my neck. Having stable housing is absolutely critical for me to be able to recover safely from these surgeries when the time comes.
On top of this, I spent a month in the hospital in August after needing emergency surgery for MRSA. The medical bills and time in recover pushed me further behind financially. I've also experienced several traumatic events over the past few years that have affected my mental health, making everything even more overwhelming.
Transportation has become another struggle, as my vehicle needs repairs and maintenance that I cannot currently afford. I rely on it for medical appointments, meetings, and basic daily needs.
I am in the process of applying for SSDI, but until(and if) I am approved, I have no stay income to cover even the essentials.
I am asking for help to:
*Catch up on overdue rent to keep my sober living housing
*Cover ongoing rent so I don't become homeless again
*Pay medical expenses related to my spine conditions, neuropathy, and recent hospitalization
*Manage essential cost-of-living bills while waiting for SSDI
*Cover necessary vehicle expenses and repairs so I can attend appointments and meet my basic needs
*Ensure I have a safe, stable place to recover from my upcoming spinal surgeries
Amy amount- no matter how small- truly means the world to me. Your support would give me the stability I need to stay safe, sober, and focused on healing and recovery. Even sharing this page makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read my support, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you can offer.
With gratitude,
Kacy Miller
