My name is Kaci. I’m Mommy to 2 boys, ages 2 and 6, and “Mom” to an 11 year old boy, 14 year old girl, and a 16 year old boy. I homeschool my youngest 2 so am currently unemployed. I am currently battling cancer for the second time in 2 years. The first time they were able to take care of the cancer with surgery. This time looks a lot different. They are unable to do surgery due to the size of the tumor and it happens to be next to some vital organs that would leave me with a urostomy bag and a colostomy bag. I have been going through radiation and chemotherapy, which has been really tough. I have radiation 5 days a week and chemotherapy once a week, and the cancer center is 22 miles round trip. My husband was working full time, but had to reduce hours so that I could take the time to go to treatment and have child care. He also pays child support on his other children so things are usually tight anyways. We have gotten far behind on bills as well such as utilities and phones, etc. With all the traveling I have to do this makes things more difficult. I have reached out to many organizations trying to get help and haven’t had any luck so far. After my current treatment is done (just hit my halfway point December 2nd) I will be sent to St Louis for further treatment. This also causes issues since I don’t have a reliable enough vehicle to make the trip either. I am so lost on what to do. I’ve run out of options so unfortunately am asking for help. We do get food stamps, but they only last about 2 weeks if that, so that is also a big issue. Of course we all know Christmas is around the corner, so I am also unable to get any of the kids even one small gift a piece. Any donation will be used for gas for travel to cancer appointments, food for our children, unpaid bills such as utilities, and hopefully a few things for Christmas for the children.
