Support Kacey Ogg & his family during his transplant.
Donation protected
We have decided to set up this Go Fund Me to provide some security for Vicky and Mike during this increasingly difficult time with their little boy, Kacey. Kacey has been on the transplant list since the 31st August 2023 and is awaiting a multi-organ donor to provide a small intestine and liver transplant. Vicky is currently a full time carer for Kacey after giving up her career of 14 years whilst Mike was working full time but has had to take a break in order to support Vicky and his family. They need help to support them to provide financial relief so that they can comfortably fund a stay of 6 months to a year at Birmingham hospital after the procedure. It also means that they can spend as much time as possible memory making with Kacey, together with Kacey's big brothers, Morgan and Brody.
Kacey was born healthy on the 28th October 2020 but it was 8 weeks later during the Christmas period that his journey would change completely. Kacey underwent several critical operations at Alder Hey to try and preserve his small intestine after clotting but unfortunately all but a few inches was lost which meant Kacey became reliant on TPN for nutrition via an IV line in one of his main arteries. The past 3 and a half years have been full of trials and tribulations whilst Vicky and Mike have navigated a completely different life to what they envisioned. Kacey has undergone multiple more surgeries, hundreds of consultations and appointments with Alder Hey and the medical team based in Birmingham and many suggestions regarding his oral nutrition, tummy care and medical results; with the latest meaning that shots of glucose need to be injected through one of his g-tubes every hour of the day whilst taking time off from TPN in order to maintain his glucose levels as his liver is deteriorating. He now requires 24/7 care from both Vicky and Mike.
Despite all of this, Kacey is an amazingly brave, strong little boy with an incredibly cheeky sense of humour and an infectious smile. He absolutely adores playing with his two older brothers, boogying to the likes of the Halloween theme tune or Michael Jackson, riding in his mini jeep and watching Hey Dougee, In The Night Garden or the infamous Skibidi Toilet.
Kacey is now at a life threatening stage in his journey as his liver is deteriorating by the day and recently Alder Hey have opened up the donor pool to adults to increases his chances by 30-40% although this includes risks, intensive care and skin donation/grafting on top of the organs that he needs. Failing this, we are hoping for the option of a living donor from his parents/family (which is extremely rare and has only been performed once in the UK) which means that they need to give intense focus to their own health during this time to improve their organ condition and ensure strength and stability in surgery.
As a family, they have dealt with this extremely privately for over 3 years but we feel it is now the time to seek your help as time is extremely precious and is not on our side. It would mean the world to us if you could help us help them with this deserving and worthy cause to reduce the financial strain that they are now facing and in the future during their ongoing journey. Your contribution will make a world of difference and would be hugely appreciated by the whole family. The money raised will allow them precious time with Kacey without the additional worry of bills, food, the cost of travel and hotels for frequent hospital stays and memory making. The transplant alone requires a minimum 6 month stay in hospital due to the rare nature of the intestine transplant and complex procedure. Thank you so much for reading their story and we hope you can consider donating to Kacey's cause.
Thank you,
Natalie
