Support K9 Karma's Fight for Recovery

Donation protected
UPDATE: (8/9/25)
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has shown such incredible support and compassion over the past few days. K9 Karma fought with everything he had to stay with us, but despite his strength and determination, he has sadly passed away. Karma will forever be remembered as a true hero—loyal, brave, and deeply loved.

The initial fundraiser was created to support Karma’s recovery. In light of this heartbreaking loss, we made the decision to close the GoFundMe. However, after receiving many requests from members of the public wishing to continue supporting our K9 program, we have decided to keep the donations open for now. Your generosity and continued support mean more than words can express.

Please keep Deputy Miller and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Our office will provide further details soon regarding a procession and service to honor K9 Karma, which is expected to take place later this week.

Thank you again for standing with us and honoring Karma’s legacy.

On August 8th, 2025, the Isanti County Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics investigation and search warrant. While attempting to apprehend the suspects, they fled the scene, which led to a vehicle pursuit. Deputies located the vehicle fully engulfed in flames with no occupants inside. K9 Karma was then utilized in the track and apprehension of the suspects and was ultimately successful, and the individuals were taken into custody without incident. However, following this incident, K9 Karma began exhibiting signs of a serious medical condition. His health declined rapidly, and his handler, Deputy Miller, transported him to a specialized facility where he remains in critical condition. Veterinarians have given K9 Karma a 60% chance of recovery, and he will continue to receive intensive care for the next few days.

We commend K9 Karma for his bravery and dedication in assisting with the apprehension of these individuals who attempted to evade law enforcement. His actions exemplify the courage and commitment of our K9 unit, even at great personal cost.

The Isanti County K9 program is funded entirely through generous donations from our community. Unfortunately, the medical care required for K9 Karma has placed a significant strain on our K9 fund. Veterinarians have given an estimate of at least $15,000 for Karma to receive the intensive care over the next 4-5 days. We are deeply grateful for the support we've received over the years and respectfully ask the community to consider contributing to help cover K9 Karma's medical expenses and replenish the program's resources.

We will be posting updates about Karma's recovery on our Isanti County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Any questions can be directed to Chief Deputy John Gillquist (763) [phone redacted].

Respectfully,

Isanti County Sheriff's Office
