TL;dr: I’m a Black Trans Woman coming back from my body, home, money being wrecked in 2022. Your support will help me invest in my practice & travel safely for work.

The few months has been particularly trying physically & financially between continued stress from leaving an unfortunate housing situation, a lapse in sobriety & collapsing on stage at my first live performance in years. Since the pandemic I’ve seen a stark flux in my quality of life & I’m not able to show up for myself or community the way I want to. I wish I could be asking for surgery funds or down payment on an apartment but I’ve set up my life where I can get by on little while still producing the art that keeps me alive & the content that connects me to my people.

After several hard weeks of setting into my new living situation , I finally feel able to restart working & teach & playing the publishing game. I am thankful for my Patrons who have supported me over the years & to my partner who contributes continually to my material security but I need to provide for myself. I cannot do that without more ground support.

I want to start submitting my latest manuscript to various contests, as well as apply for fellowships/grants over the next few months. I’ve planned to attend AWP in Seattle next month. These opportunities (almost) all cost & I want to afford to pay to play. I want to reintroduce my work to spaces I have been unable to reach. I want to open myself up to the critique of my peers. Still all this costs.

I have monthly bills that I’ve managed to get under $1000 a month but beyond that I have little money for myself or my aforementioned goals. Your contributions will help me have the breathing room to invest in my craft while still taking care of my basic needs.

As a Black Trans Woman I’m proud of what I’ve carved for myself in this world & feel no shame asking for support in attempting to thrive. Please Share Widely.
