The Ongoing Battle. Living with Stickler Syndrome and Fighting for Vision. A Lifelong Challenge.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Tony, I'm setting this fund up for one of my best friends. His name is Justin, and this is his story.

He was born with Stickler Syndrome, a genetic disorder that profoundly affects the body's connective tissue, primarily targeting the vision and joints. For him, this has meant a lifetime of relentless surgical procedures, chronic pain, and a constant, terrifying fight to save his eyesight.

This is more than a medical condition; it is a battle for his ability to see the world, and it has taken a staggering toll—physically, emotionally, and financially. In the amount of 30k

The Fight for his sight.
The structural defects caused by Stickler Syndrome made his retinas incredibly fragile. The most devastating moment came in 2001 when he went blind twice in the right eye due to a severe retinal detachment.
To combat this, he underwent a complex procedure where a scleral buckle was placed around the eye to physically hold the retina in place. This was followed by multiple laser surgeries over the years, each one a desperate attempt to patch and secure his vision. It has been a relentless Surgical Journey.
The surgeries didn't stop there. As the years progressed, I needed double cataract surgery in both eyes. The complications continued to mount, requiring a series of advanced and highly specialized procedures to manage the devastating effects of the syndrome.
In total, he's endured 14 surgeries on his eyes up until this current year.
This includes:
Initial Xen Stent placements in both eyes, which tragically both had to be redone.
A partial corneal Descemet stripping (DSEK), a delicate procedure that also, devastatingly, required a repeat surgery.
A third Xen Stent recently placed in the right eye—a testament to the syndrome's stubborn, destructive nature.
The most heart-wrenching part of this journey has been the last year. Since February of this year alone, he's had to undergone five additional, major eye surgeries. This grueling series of procedures has meant constant recovery, intense stress, and mounting medical bills that are overwhelming him.

His vision is not just a medical statistic; it's his independence, his connection to loved ones, and his ability to live a full life. Stickler Syndrome is constantly trying to steal that from him, but he is not just giving up he is committed to fighting it every step of the way.

How Your Support Can Help
Your donation will provide a lifeline that allows him to focus on healing, not on the impossible financial strain. The funds raised will go directly toward:
Existing Medical Debt: Covering the crushing costs of the 14+ surgeries, especially the five recent procedures this year.
Ongoing Treatments and Medications: Ensuring he has access to necessary specialist appointments, vision aids, and expensive post-operative medications.
Future Surgeries: Creating a reserve for the inevitable procedures that Stickler Syndrome will demand in the future.

Every share and every dollar brings him closer to the stability needed to win this fight.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing against Stickler Syndrome.

Please share his story and help  protect the vision he has left. Thank you! And God Bless.
