Hi, my name is Justin. I’m a father of three wonderful kids and a former law enforcement officer who’s been quietly fighting a tough battle with PTSD and anxiety. It’s something I’ve carried with me ever since my time in uniform, and while I’ve been actively working through therapy, some days still feel like I’m just trying to survive, not live.
This journey has affected every part of my life, including my health, my relationships, and my ability to feel safe or grounded in everyday situations. It even broke up my marriage. But I’m not giving up.
After deep conversations with my therapist and other veterans, I truly believe a psychiatric service dog could be a huge step toward getting my life back. These dogs are specially trained to:
Interrupt panic attacks or night terrors
Create space in public
Wake me from nightmares
Provide calming pressure during anxiety spikes
Offer unconditional support through everyday challenges
Unfortunately, a fully trained service dog can cost between $15,000 and $30,000, and most organizations that fund them only assist military veterans or retired officers. Because I’m not retired — I was injured while serving — I’ve been turned away.
So, I’m here humbly asking for your help.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
The cost of a trained service dog from a certified program
Travel for training and bonding sessions
Ongoing care and gear for the dog
I’m currently researching and connecting with reputable trainers who can customize the dog’s training for my specific needs.
Why This Matters:
I want to be a better friend, brother, son, and eventually, a better partner again someday. I want to feel like myself again — or maybe find who I am now.
This dog won’t just be a companion. It will be a lifeline.
If you can help in any way — whether it’s donating, sharing this page, or just sending encouragement — I can’t thank you enough.
Every bit brings me closer to a future that feels safe and full of hope.
With gratitude,
Justin
