Julia:
You all, with all your love and support, have gotten us to our budgeted goal to move through this to get Justin home. I'm humbled by you all. I've given so many times to a GFM without a thought that someday it would be us. It's actually how Justin and I met, I wanted to help him as he went through his Cancer Surgery. 15 years later now. A huge shout out to Grace, my oldest daughter, for setting up and managing all the funds for us. She is/has always been such a blessing to me since the day I first held her in my arms. She is truly an Amazing Grace. Thank you to all our family, our friends, their friends and family, and to the lovelies that chose to be anonymous, I see you in my heart even if I can't see you IRL. I will continue to update as we move forward, because this story is not over and it's Justin so it's gonna be an interesting one I'm sure! Love to you all xoxo Julia
Justin:
I want to express how grateful and thankful I am. I am happy to be alive. I am blessed that so many people have reached out, prayed, and donated on my behalf. I would not have had the strength without all of you and your support. I want to thank Grace for organizing the GFM and I want to thank my wife Julia for being by my side, and all of my close friends and family for emotionally being there for me. It all means more than I am able to express. The journey is far from over, but I am right here and will push through what ever I need to so that I can get back home and get the medical attention I need. Thank you again.
UPDATE: The med evac is currently a no go. Florida will not take our insurance so we need to get to mn. But the medi evac would be between 45,000 and 70,000. We cannot do that. And at this point he is stable and progressing so there is no IMMEDIATE need for another surgery. It would be great to get back to the US and have him seen. We are taking a chance on further deterioration but Justin is ok with that risk. If you know Justin you will understand. So right now the thought is that we will need to get a ground transport company to take us to the US border through Belize and then Mexico. Then get some sort of ride from Texas. The doctor says he would like to get to the point of Justin getting the 2 tubes out ( they took 1 out today) and then he would place a smaller module with the one tube. A Heimlich module that would tape to his side. So we would stay in hospital until that is stable then get a place to stay by the hospital and Justin would come in 2 times a week for x-rays until the point we can make the drive to mn. Uffda what a mess. This will all be feasible with your donations. The donations will pay for his hospital stay here in Belize food and necessities until the doctor gives the ok to leave. When he leaves the hospital it will pay for our lodging and his trips back to the hospital for care. Then it will help pay for the medical needs, ground transport, food and lodging to get back to MN. This is the only way we can see through this. But there is still a glimmer my Uncle David and Aunt Mary have contacted Sen. Howe in MN and he is working on our behalf to maybe still fly Justin home. There is always God's path. We listen watch and follow. I can't thank you all enough. You all have been the light in the storm. So much love. JULIA
Hello everyone! My name is Grace and I’m the eldest daughter of Julia, and I'm writing this on behalf of Julia and Justin Trott.
Upon their arrival in Belize, Justin had breathing issues on the airplane. Emergency landing. EMTs checked him and his oxygen levels were okay, so they went to the island. A few days passed, and with many worries from Julia, they went to see the local doctor. He told them new information that there was fluid either around Justin’s lungs or heart and he would need to be seen in a larger hospital in Belize City. Finally, in Belize City, he was diagnosed with the real issue of a collapsed lung that had a very large hole in it. Two surgeries later, the doctors in Belize have done all they can by placing tubes to reinflate and patches for the hole but can no longer treat Justin’s needs. Julia has been by his side this entire time advocating for him, crying for him, and definitely worrying for him. Justin is staying strong and positive. He is a fighter.
After depleting their finances, as Medicaid does not cover outside the US, they are now in need of help as Justin is being told he will need to be medivaced to Jacksonville, Florida, to fix his lung and other medical necessities. Getting to the United States by medivac is not cheap, and once there, Julia will need a place to stay while Justin has more surgeries and rehab. Please, if you can donate, we appreciate your help, and if you cannot donate, SHARE SHARE SHARE and PRAY PRAY PRAY. Thank you.
