*Updates Below*
Our names are Rachele Robeants and Michelle Massa and we have had the pleasure of working for Justin Koonz for the past several years. We have created this GoFundMe for Justin to financially assist him as he navigates the unforeseen expenses related to his newfound diagnosis of Stage 3 Colon Cancer.
Justin received the unfortunate news of his diagnosis on his 44th birthday, July 3rd. This aggressive form of cancer has spread to his liver and lungs. Justin will undergo surgery first, and then begin a journey with chemotherapy. Justin is a single dad of two boys, ages 7 and 8. His boys are his world, and Justin prides himself on being an active and involved dad. He also volunteers his time to coach his boys' sports teams, making him an integral part of his community. All of those who know Justin can speak for his caring nature. Justin is always the first person to offer support in anyone’s time of need. This is a time for us all to rally together and show our support for Justin as he beats Stage 3 Cancer. The funds will assist Justin with unforeseen medical expenses related to his treatment, living expenses as he will be unable to work while he is recovering, and any additional expenses related to his care such as meals, etc.
Please consider donating. No amount is too small.
Update 7/16/25. Justin is out of surgery and recovering. The doctors successfully removed his colon as well as a part of his intestine. He is in a bit of pain but happy that the surgery is behind him. He is overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone’s generosity and well wishes. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts as he recovers from the procedure. We will continue to keep everyone updated here.
Update 7/16/25 Part 2. Justin spoke with the surgeon and unfortunately he was dealt a bit of a set back. The lesion on his liver was confirmed to be cancer which progresses him from Stage 3 to Stage 4. Justin is still in great spirits and optimistic for his recovery. The next step is to meet with the Oncologist and develop an action plan from here. Again, Justin is deeply touched by everyone reaching out and thinking of him, please continue to keep him in your thoughts.
Update 8/11/25: Justin is doing well with his recovery from surgery. He had a percutaneous chemo port placed on Monday 8/4 and is beginning infusions this week. He also volunteered as a participant in a study that is focusing on why there have been increased cases of colorectal cancer in people under the age of 45. He is very positive and so appreciative of all the support. We will continue to keep everyone updated.
