Hi. My name is Crystal and I am doing this GoFundMe on behalf of one of my best friends, Justin. We met through work as I would always have to call the doctor's office where he works. We would pick and I would give him a hard time. We instantly clicked. His coworkers even tried to set us up, asking me one day if I was single, and at the time I had to say, "Sorry, I am happily taken." That didn’t last, but my friendship with Justin only became one of the best I ever had.
During this breakup, I mysteriously received flowers that said, "Just because you needed to smile." On my birthday, I got a gorgeous bouquet of flowers delivered, and the card read, "43 never looked so good." Both of those cards are hanging in my office. He has been my rock, my shoulder to cry on, the one who has picked up my crown more times than I can count, and ALWAYS reminds me what a great woman I am and to know my worth. This is the type of person he is. He leads the music ministry at his church, fixes boxes for those in need. There is nothing he doesn’t do.
But now, my 30-year-old friend’s health has declined very quickly and he was told he is in the end stages of heart failure; he only has 10% of his heart working. Today we found out that a heart transplant is off the table unless he wants to be referred out of state. He has decided he does not want to do anything out of state. Now it is up to the doctors and a board to study his case and determine if they will do the LVAD. If they choose not to do this, then Justin will go into palliative care. They said they give 2 maybe 3 years. We are so very sad and heartbroken by this news, but Justin has a huge faith and is ready to meet and be with Jesus if that is in the cards.
Soon my friend will have to quit the job that brought me one of my best friends. It already hurts when I call for doctor's orders not to hear his happy and cheerful voice. He has had a lot of expenses having to go back and forth to Ochsner's in New Orleans and has had to miss a lot of work due to several hospitalizations lately. I ask if you can to please donate any amount you can and to please share his GoFundMe. He has so much to worry about at such a young age that he doesn’t need to worry financially as well. I thank you and God bless you!!! -Crystal Daire-Fontenot
