Support Justin's Battle with Brain Tumor

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Sheena, my husband Justin, and our child Zavier. I am asking for assistance for my family! My husband, Justin, 39, was diagnosed with an aggressive Non-Cancerous Brain Tumor on October 11, 2024. He needs around-the-clock care, and I have left my position at our local school to attend and take care of him, our home, our special needs child, and fur babies. That being said, we’ve been left without any income other than help from my parents and would appreciate any donations we receive.

The image above is from his October MRI, which shows the tumor's location. It is quite a large tumor, 5.3cm by 5.2cm. It has destroyed the right inner workings of his ear so that he will be losing his hearing due to removing the tumor.

October 26, 2024 He had a spinal fusion of the C1 to C2, which was done at the end of October because the tumor eroded the disc holding his head on his spine and was risking having internal decapitation.

Day 1 - On Monday, December 9, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center'. After 13 hours for my husband to be done with the first step of the brain surgery. They are going to remove the right side of his skull so that they can start removing his tumor. They removed the outer portion of the tumor that destroyed his inner ear and sat outside of his brain.

Day 2 - They are back into surgery, Tuesday, December 10, 2024. After speaking with his surgeons, I believe this surgery will last longer than yesterday's. However, the goal is to remove as much of his tumor as possible so that he has a fighting chance with radiation in destroying the tumor from growing again and attacking any more of his brain and working organs.

Day 5 - I was awaken at 4am by him hollering “Honey” only to be informed that “his life sucks”. Which I can’t blame him for thinking that right now. However, he is talking, though hard to translate most of it. His surgeons say, “This will be a rough long slow road back to recovery and his normal.”

However, he has blurred and double vision in his right eye, and he is 100% deaf in his right ear and currently battling Meningitis as well.

He gave me the go ahead to post the photos I’ve taken thus far, but WARNING it isn’t all that pretty.

Day 15 - His first bite of actual food! Still has his feeding tube because he can’t swallow his medicine.

His baseball stitches, goes all the way over his ear parallel to his ear lobe on both sides.

My husband’s first post op appointment outside of the hospital, it was so difficult for him to sit up for 2 hr drive, the visit and 2 hours back to the hospital. He was in so much pain, and vomiting!
