Hi, my name is Kolby Johnson, and I’m raising funds to support Justin Smyers, who has recently and unexpectedly had a medical emergency. Justin is facing a tough battle ahead, and we need your help to cover the overwhelming medical costs and provide the care he desperately need.

The Story:

Justin is 28 years old and for anyone who knows him they know he is the most kind, caring, hardworking, determined, strong-willed, hilarious, generous, and all-around loving human being. Unfortunately, he recently received a life-changing diagnosis in which he suffered multiple seizures, leading to a stroke due to a heart defect that was undiagnosed. He was placed in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for a week. This diagnosis has been devastating for our family, both emotionally and financially.

Justin has come down from sedation and the ventilator has been removed. He is making progress with his recovery but has a very intense rehab journey ahead. With ongoing multidisciplinary therapies and limited ability to drive or work, it has put our family in a situation with overwhelming financial burden.

Why We Need Your Help:

Despite insurance coverage, there are still significant out-of-pocket expenses for medications, follow-up treatments, ongoing therapies, and his hospital stay. His hospital stay has a total billed amount of 255,000 dollars. These costs are quickly becoming more than we can bear alone, and that’s why we’re reaching out to you for help.

Here’s how the funds will be used:

• Medical bills for treatments, therapies, and his hospital stay.

• Medications and other necessary medical supplies

• Travel expenses to and from specialized medical centers

• Living expenses as Justin is unable to work during this time
