Justin has been a very good friend of mine since we met in Grade 4. We have gone through so much together, and it is my honor to take a step forward with him as he seeks a solution to his neurological condition. Justin has had major mental health issues all of his life. It's been difficult for professionals to properly diagnose him and find medications that help him. It has been a lifelong journey of many ups and extreme downs. A few years ago, after several assessments, it was uncovered that Justin's main struggles come from a traumatic brain injury he had when he was 2 years old; thus Justin is what they call treatment-resistant, as medications are not fully helping with his mood disorder and other things.
Justin has made the big decision to go see a specialist from Amen Clinics in the US that has proven one can heal parts of the brain that are damaged. Parts that are either overworking or underworking. Their treatment program is created after a full review of all of his tests and personal history intake. Then the Dr can create a treatment plan (such as diet, supplements and certain types of therapy, could be brain stimulation etc.) specific to Justin and refer us to a clinic near us in Alberta that offers such treatments. Whether it is medicine or therapy, it has Justin's and his family and friends' support. There's no way for us to know how many different treatments will be suggested and what the cost is for each one. We can provide updates as we know more and have a clearer idea of upcoming costs.
My friend feels hopeless and is daunted that he may have to spend the rest of his life not being able to healthily function and press forward with his passions and dreams to his fullest potential. Please consider supporting him on this new treatment journey, through your donations, and your prayers are appreciated.
