Justin was diagnosed with severe diverticulitis in late October. He underwent a major surgery to remove the portion of affected colon. Kaitlyn, who had experienced an ongoing cough and shortness of breath for several months, was recently diagnosed with a tumor in her left lung that has since been identified as sarcoma. Justin will be facing a two-week stay in rehab in Rock Hill in hopes of building his strength back up and continuing to heal. Kaitlyn is awaiting a PET scan to determine the best course of treatment. In addition, she will undergo another procedure at MUSC Charleston to remove the rest of the tumor and work with the medical team that will oversee her treatment. Both Justin and Kaitlyn have a long road ahead of them with two small children to care for along the way. They are two of the most caring and selfless people I know, and now they are in need of help and support as they navigate this trial.
