Jean-Claude Nelson is a world-renowned and deeply respected Pilates teacher, known for his dedication to helping others and for his inspiring presence in the global wellness community. On November 11, 2025, while in Wroclaw, Poland, Jean-Claude exited a church where he had just lit a candle in memory of his late father. As he knelt down to check something in his bag in the busy marketplace, he was racially profiled, singled out and challenged because of the color of his skin. A woman approached him and questioned his faith and before he could respond, she punched him in the face. Suddenly, a man struck him from behind and a group of men began to beat him severely. Jean-Claude describes the attack as feeling like a public execution, with bystanders watching, filming and refusing to help. He managed to escape into a nearby restaurant, only to be confronted again by the woman who started the assault. Even after the police arrived, Jean-Claude was treated with suspicion and disrespect and at the hospital, he faced further discrimination, ultimately leaving without treatment for his injuries.

The aftermath of this attack has been devastating. Jean-Claude suffered a double tear in his rotator cuff, leaving him unable to move his left arm and facing the possibility of surgery. The emotional and psychological toll has been immense, compounded by the lack of support and the racism he encountered. Now back home in Munich, Jean-Claude has retained a Polish lawyer and is pursuing justice through the courts, seeking restitution from his attackers. As a brilliant Pilates Master, he is focusing on rehabilitation, hoping to avoid surgery and return to his life’s work of teaching and healing others.
