Help a Devoted Mom Stay by Her Daughter’s Side After Tragic Accident

Hi, my name is Glennis Hughes, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my granddaughter’s mother, Justa Ratliff, who is facing an unimaginable crisis.

Justa, is a hardworking, devoted single mom of four children. She worked tirelessly up until the very day this terrible accident happened, providing for her family and doing everything she could to give her kids a good life. But since the accident, she has had to take an unpaid leave from work so she can be by her daughter’s side during this critical time.

My granddaughter Lexi — who is only 18 years old — was on her way to work when the accident happened on Mother’s Day. She has been working since she was just 14 years old and has always been driven, responsible, and full of life. She had just turned 18 two weeks before the crash, and was set to graduate high school on May 30th. Her whole future was ahead of her.

Instead, she is now in a fight for her life.

She was in a horrific car accident that left her with a severe traumatic brain injury. Before she could even make it into surgery, she suffered a stroke, making her condition even more fragile and life-threatening. As soon as she arrived at the hospital, she underwent emergency brain surgery to try to save her life.

It was a terrifying and heartbreaking experience for our entire family. But by the grace of God, she survived. We thank God every single day that she is still with us — she is truly a miracle.

Her journey is far from over. She remains in the ICU and will need to be transferred to a specialized hospital out of town for long-term care and rehabilitation. Her mom needs to be with her every step of the way — while also caring for her three other children at home.

The emotional, physical, and financial toll is enormous, and she can’t do this alone.

We’re asking for help to support her during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward:

• Transportation and lodging costs so she can travel to the out-of-town hospital

• Meals and basic living expenses while staying near her daughter

• Childcare and support at home for her other three children
