Hello, my name is Jurnee Reid and I have leukemia, specifically Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-cell with the Philadelphia Chromosome Identifier. I’m asking for donations to raise funds to offset the cost of living and medical costs. I’m currently disabled and unable to work. I was officially diagnosed at the beginning of September, specifically on the 5th. When I came to MSK in the city, my white blood cell count was 76. I was told if I didn’t come in and had continued living life, I would’ve had 4 weeks until I lost brain activity. There is no cure for leukemia, just treatments with the intent to cure. I do not have a family history of cancer, and this was a complete surprise to me and my family. The following months would be filled with highs and lows and lots of tears. I was re-hospitalized on three different occasions and experienced a blood infection due to a PICC line infection. They’ve had to remove my PICC line twice. The only treatment I could experience was a neurotoxin immuno-chemotherapy called Blenatuminab. I suffered severely with social anxiety, anxiety, and depression. This treatment took away a lot of my free will, making me solely dependent on my support system to get me to my doctor’s appointments for my chemo bag change every seven days. The stress of not being able to take care of myself, not contributing to the household, and receiving bills in the mail month after month, paying for expensive Ubers and gas with little to no money, was enough for me to ask to stop treatment so that I could get my life back together. My family supported me the best they could. But now I’m asking the community and friends to help me by donating. I’m trying to resume a normal life or something similar to one. My life has been forever changed, and I’m not one to usually ask for help, but I’m really out of options and resources. My life has led me here, hoping that someone can find it in their heart to help alleviate this hardship. Anything helps. Thank you so much in advance. I appreciate anyone who could find it in them to contribute to my cause.
