Our sweet matriarch Junko needed emergency surgery and hospitalization.
We were steadfast in doing everything possible to save her life. After an emergency vet diagnosed her with a severe intestinal blockage and possible foreign body, we brought her to a surgical clinic to complete the surgery. They needed an ultrasound that they couldn’t do in-house, so we had to seek one at an available emergency vet with an internist on staff, which proved difficult to find while she waited even longer for care. Once back at the surgical clinic 7-8 hours later with the results finally in hand, she finally received a blood transfusion, the surgery, and was hospitalized over the weekend.
How you can help
In 2020, Junko and a few of her siblings inspired her loving cat father Paul and I to get more involved with fostering and rescue. We saw the need and answered the call. Junko did not survive her surgery, but the sooner we are past this financial hurdle, the sooner we can get back to giving more animals a chance at life. We need help recouping the costs of this unexpected emergency care. Please consider giving anything you can spare in her honor.
Itemized care she’s received:
- $1400 - emergency triage and diagnosis, including x-rays and bloodwork, antibiotic injection, and fluids
- $1000 - emergency internist visit and ultrasound
- $3500 - exploratory surgery, blood transfusion, hospitalization including oxygen
