On February 18, 2026 our sister, Lindsay and her fiance, Michael, gave birth to a tiny, 4 lb. 10 oz. superhero named Juniper Mac. Juni was born seven weeks early and with many superpowers including stubbornness, a sassy disposition and a fighting spirit.
She was also born with Down Syndrome and a heart defect called atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD). After a month-long stay at Children's Hospital, Juni is home. She needs a feeding tube and medication to support her heart function--but she is showing us how strong she really is.
Juni will need surgery to repair her AVSD in the coming weeks or months. Her echocardiograms have revealed that her heart anatomy is complex and unique. Her surgery will be more complicated than originally thought.
Lindsay and Michael are seeking additional opinions from some of the top hospitals in the country.
While they prepare for her surgery Lindsay and Michael are raising Juni’s big brothers, Aiden, Parker and Deacon. They meet with cardiologists, geneticists, nutritionists, nephrologists, endocrinologists and audiologists, to name just a few of the specialists involved in Juni's care. All this while providing Juni daily with the extra support that premature babies (and superheroes) with Down Syndrome and AVSD require.
It takes a lot of courage and dedication to support a superhero like Juni, and Lindsay, Michael and the boys are showing up everyday with love and grace for their little girl. Juni is mighty, but her journey is long and we'd like to help make it as smooth as possible.
If you are able, we'd like to ask you to contribute any amount to support Lindsay, Michael and Juni on this journey.
Your contribution will help with travel expenses, food and medical costs related to Juni's care. While they have a lot of support in place, the nature of Juni's medical challenges are already and will continue to require extra time and money.
On behalf of our sister and our precious niece, thank you for any support you can offer including thoughts, prayers, good vibes, or a donation. Nothing is as important to us as our family and we've already been blown away by the love and care surrounding Juni and her family.
With love and thanks,
Mandy, Heather and Caitlin
