Hi, my name is Leon Gallegos and I live in the beautiful town of Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico, but born and raised in Taos. I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but today, I’m reaching out to my community — to friends, neighbors, animal lovers, and anyone with a kind heart — to ask for help.
My puppy, Juniper, came into my life like a burst of sunshine. She’s been my shadow, my hiking buddy, my morning joy, and my peace at the end of a hard day. She’s still just a baby, full of life and love, but recently, something heartbreaking happened.
Juniper began losing mobility in her back legs, and after rushing her to the vet, I received news no dog parent ever wants to hear: she has nerve damage along her spine that’s left her paralyzed. Right now, she can’t run, can’t play, and can barely move without assistance. It breaks my heart to see her trying to wag her tail through the pain.
The good news? There is hope. A neurologist may be able to pinpoint exactly what’s going on — and potentially give Juniper a chance at walking again. But the cost of seeing a specialist, getting advanced imaging like MRIs, and starting any treatment is far beyond what I can afford on my own right now.
That’s why I’m turning to you — my community.
Every dollar donated will go directly toward Junipers neurologist appointments, diagnostic tests, and whatever treatment or therapy she may need. Whether it’s $5 or $50, it means the world to us. And if you can’t donate, just sharing our story can make a difference too.
Juniper still has so much life to live. I want to give her that chance. With your help, I know we can get there.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me fight for Juniper.
With love and gratitude,
Leon & Juniper
