Hi everyone, my name is Mitzy. As a lifelong dog lover and advocate, moving to South Central a year ago was a real eye-opener. Seeing the stray dog crisis firsthand has been heartbreaking from rescuing dogs and finding them homes to the difficult reality of mourning those who didn't make it.

I’m dedicated to making a difference here, even if small and so I have been able to help several pups reunite with their owners or find their forever families.

Most recently while going home at night I found the sweetest senior pup near Wilmington Ave. I posted her online and notified shelters but no one claimed her. She is also unchipped and was found in terrible conditions. She was found covered in fleas/ ticks, limping from both her back legs, has multiple tumors, and is incontinent among other issues.

We decided to name her Juniper meaning "young" or "evergreen," and refers to the resilient, hardy berry-producing shrub. Juniper has lived a hard life but she has still demonstrated resilience and is the sweetest angel.

During her vet visit, the doctors stated she may be about 10 years old. She also may have a neurological problem but even so, she still has a chance at a good quality life as long as someone has the heart and the money to do so.

Juniper did not choose this life and so, we have decided to proceed with care as long as we can. We strongly believe that every being deserves a chance and although I wish she had reached us sooner, I am happy she is with us now and we can begin her healing journey.

So, now we are kindly asking for any donations towards her care. The vet gave us an estimate of $830.57 but we are hoping to raise at least $1,000 as the vet will need to see her in a few weeks to check her progress.

Update as of 02/26/2026: Juniper was diagnosed with kidney failure & anemia. As a result, she will require dialysis multiple times a month which will be costly. Additionally, she will need a special diet to manage her kidney failure. Juniper will need to be constantly monitored to check for progress or any decline.
