Hi! My name is Juniper, and my fiance's name is Jonathon. We are a queer couple living in southern Indiana, USA, and we could really use some help moving to Michigan and getting a new apartment.
The area that we live in is highly discriminatory towards LGBTQ+ people like ourselves. Due to the recent political changes in our country, growing hostility towards transgender people like myself, and complete lack of community support, it is becoming increasingly difficult to live here. Our mental health is in great decline because of this, and we feel it is only a matter of time before our physical health is threatened as well, so we would like to leave as soon as we can.
Unfortunately, last year, I was abruptly laid off from one of my jobs, after coming out as trans and trying to organize workers rights, disrupting our livelihoods. I have since been unable to find sustainable work due to lack of transportation, disability accommodation, and local employment opportunities. While I still do freelance illustration work, the income is not consistent. Combining that and Jonathon's salary is enough to cover the very basics of living/bills, but we are unable to save up enough money to make the transfer to Michigan, where a more friendly community awaits us.
This means we need money help for the moving van, the security deposit on an apartment, first month's rent, and basics like groceries and utility money for the first month of living there while we start new jobs. The soonest date that we can exit by is the end of May.
If you would like to contribute to our income in other ways, I am taking illustration and tattoo design commissions. You can contact me through my Instagram or Bluesky account, or via my website.
Every little bit helps! Please help us get to a safer, healthier place with a community that loves us and we love back, where we can do more than just survive. <3
All of our gratitude,
Juniper & Jonathon
