My brother, Lam Jr. (The Golden Child) was born in 1978 and is only 47 years old. I could spend a lifetime trying to put into words the kind of man he is and still fall short. He is selfless, kind, and full of love, the kind of person who makes everyone around him feel safe, supported, and seen. By the grace of God, Junior continues to fight, and we truly believe it is God’s love and mercy that have carried him through every moment of this journey.
Junior is an incredible father to his three daughters, Victoria, Savannah, and Ally, and an amazing stepdad to Jorge, Gabby, and Diego, whom he loves as his own. He is also a devoted husband to his beautiful wife, Graciela, and the heart of their home. Our family revolves around him in ways we never truly realized until everything changed.

Just four weeks ago, we were all together in the Caribbean celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday and Christmas at Junior’s home, surrounded by laughter, love, and memories we will now forever hold close. None of us knew those moments would be the last time life felt normal.

The day after Christmas, Junior went in for what was supposed to be a minor check-up. Instead, our world stopped. We were told he needed an emergency quadruple bypass surgery. The surgery lasted 12 hours, and the trauma to his body was so severe that doctors were unable to close his chest for five days.
From that moment on, everything became a fight.
Complication after complication followed, each one more devastating than the last. By Day 10, Junior was unresponsive. Doctors told us it might be time to let him go. Standing there in star of shock , I could not fathom having to prepare to say goodbye to my brother, someone who had done nothing but love, was the most painful moment of our lives.

But God was not finished.
The very next day, a doctor asked Junior if he could hear him. To our absolute shock, Junior gave a strong, undeniable nod…not weak, not uncertain, but powerful. When asked to wiggle his toes, he did. In that moment, we knew God was still working. Junior was still here. He was fighting.

Since then, every single day has been a battle. His body has endured more than words can explain, like a battlefield, but his spirit refuses to surrender. Some days his responsiveness is minimal due to heavy medication, yet through it all, God’s hand has been present. We believe with all our hearts that while doctors and nurses are doing everything they can, God is the true physician, and we trust Him completely. We do not question why, we walk by faith, not by sight.
Today, Junior is being flown out as he awaits a heart transplant. This journey is far from over, and the road ahead is long, uncertain, and overwhelming. The medical expenses, travel, extended hospital stays, and recovery time will place an unimaginable burden on his family.
We never imagined we would be in a position to ask for help like this. But with your love, prayers, and support, Junior has a chance at a second life, a chance to come home to his children, to hug his wife again, and to continue being the man so many people depend on.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, donating, and most of all praying for my brother. Your support gives us hope when we need it most. By the grace of God, Junior’s fight continues, and so does our faith.
