Help Us Give Junie the Care She Deserves
May 22 update: Thanks, y’all! We had enough in the pot to start treatment.
On April 17th, as Annie and Addie were getting home from a concert, they noticed a couple of people at the end of the driveway. When they stopped to see what was going on, they found them waiting with a dog they’d found wandering the neighborhood.
Addie (possibly the least likely to adopt a dog right now) felt an instant connection. We offered to keep the dog for the night and make a plan to help her. She was so sweet, we were sure we’d be able to find her a good home. We called her Junie (after Valerie June, the artist we just saw).
We had no intention of adding to our pack, but… life had other plans. We’ve since (joyfully) accepted that we now have three dogs. It’s not common for all seven people in the house to agree to something, but with Junie, we do!
Last week, we took Junie to the vet and found out she’s heartworm positive. The recommended treatment is effective, but expensive.
Like so many people, we’re juggling a lot right now. Addie’s dad is going through some serious medical challenges, and there’s guilt in the mix; money spent on vet bills feels like money not spent on plane tickets to see family. It’s hard.
We’re reaching out in hopes that Junie’s story might resonate. If you’re able to chip in to help cover her vet care, we’d be deeply grateful. Every bit helps and we promise Junie is worth it.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, or donating.
