In loving memory of Julio Paredes

Many people have wanted to help or send flowers to help commemorate the great person that my uncle Julio Paredes. He was a great husband, a proud father of five, and an amazing uncle. He tragically lost his life on July 25th of 2024 after someone intentionally ran him over. We will always remember the love and dedication he had for his family and community.

My uncle came to the US with a dream. He arrived at California really young and worked in many jobs. He learned English and how to do taxes. He started doing taxes for family and friends and then that became his own business. While he had his business and five children, he went back to school. He went to TCC and finished his associate’s in a year, then he transferred and finished his bachelor’s at UTA in two more years. Then he went to law school at UNT where he became a lawyer and immediately began helping people get their documents and immigration status fixed up. He was doing extremely well in his job. He would have loved the opportunity to continue supporting the education of all his children, but that opportunity was forcibly taken away by someone.

My uncle always let us know he wanted to be cremated, but it couldn’t be done because of Mexican laws. Since his death was due to homicide, he had to be buried until the investigation/case was completed. As soon as everything is finished, he will be cremated and brought back to Texas to be with his family, as he wished. Instead of flowers, we are creating a college fund for his youngest kids, 11 year old Leonardo and 9 year old Samantha. My uncle really valued education. He was the one who taught me how to study and challenged me to complete my degree at Sam Houston State University in three years, just like he did.

My uncle's family is not asking for money; we were inspired to create this fund after we heard that so many people wanted to help them during these difficult times. This fund is for those who wish to honor Julio's memory and support the future of his youngest children.

Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
