Hello, my name is Juliet. I’m 24 years old, and this December on the 21st I will be turning 25. I grew up in Florida all my life, but I recently moved to Washington, D.C. as of June 2025 where I relocated to be with my long distance partner of almost four years. I love the city, and I am so much happier now than ever before. Therapy and community have helped me blossom and grow into the young adult I am shaping up to be.
Despite this, life has thrown me many curveballs. I became unemployed in July right after I settled in. Job hunting has barely returned any contact, even during my first months of applying daily. In November I lost my grandmother, who followed after my grandfather a few months prior. I have been in therapy and am currently on medication, and these bills have started to pile onto me. This is the biggest stressor in my life currently.
My current goal is to at least get enough money to fly and see my family this Christmas, as this holiday season is especially tender being the first without my grandparents. Flights to Florida are upward of $300. The rest of my goal is to pay off my active bills for my health insurance, credit card debt.
Thank you if you’ve read this far. Anything helps, and I am so very lucky to have such a loving family and so many supportive people in my life who helped me make it this far. My family helped me fly back to Florida twice already for my grandparents’ funeral, and I am so so grateful that I didn’t have to miss it. Though these things life brings us are hard, we as a community are stronger.
