Our friend, Julie was admitted to a local hospital last year, in April 2023 for abdominal pain. She had immediate colon surgery that led to several complications. This kept Julie in the hospital longer, then to a rehab facility, then back to the hospital for more surgeries. Just when she was able to walk to the bathroom with help, she fell and fractured her lower leg.

Last Thursday, August 29th, Julie was discharged from the hospital, against her wishes. She is recovering at her home in San Jose, waiting for another surgery sometime in October / November this year. The amount of care required to manage her wounds, nutrition pump, medications have presented unique challenges to Victor and their family. The amount of home health care provided by the health insurance (including Medi-Cal and Medicaid) is inadequate, putting her at more risks for infection, injuries and longer recovery.

Julie has been very patient and prayerful, despite being in pain, facing a lot of unknowns. Her husband, Victor, has been by her side, advocating 100%. It would mean a lot if you could donate any amount to help support gaps in her care. She has been in this condition for over a year now and her family members have become her caregivers, while still going to work every day. She has another big surgery coming up later this year and the amount of care for that phase is unknown. Right now, she is trying to increase her protein levels to prepare her for the next surgery, which according to the surgeon will be more complex and painful.
