On Tuesday our friend and a long-time bookclub member, Julie, a devoted, single mother of two, born-empath and steward of goodness, was forced to leave her home of 12 years under evacuation orders for the Eaton Fire. After several days in a motel they got word their house still stands. Julie was one of the lucky ones: her Altadena home and backyard office have been spared, though most of her friends and neighbors were not so fortunate.
However, it’s become clear Julie and her family will not be able to return to the home they love for quite some time, nor will she be able to work from her office–a major loss of income. The utilities are off, most of the surrounding homes and small business are leveled, and simply getting access to her street is nearly impossible. Insurance adjustors have suggested it will be months before the area is inhabitable again.
For years Julie worked to create a home in Altadena, supporting her community as a Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Trauma Practitioner, and Reiki Healer. She has lifted others, created a sense of community, facilitated relationships and made the world a brighter, more meaningful place. Now we’re hoping others can help support her as she works to navigate through this challenging and frightening time–her home stands, but her neighborhood and community are displaced, and she is among them for the foreseeable future.
Please give anything you’re able. Julie and her family are deeply committed to Altadena and these funds will go to supporting Julie, her family and community through these hard times.
