Help Julie Beat Triple Negative Breast Cancer!

Our dear friend Julie Taylor has had a rough 18 months. She was out of work for a year due to the WGA writers' strike and a subsequent layoff, which drained a lot of her savings. She had finally gotten a steady freelance writing gig and had just celebrated Jay’s birthday in Mexico when she got the news she has an aggressive form of breast cancer called triple negative breast cancer. It’s ironic that such a positive person got such a negative cancer! It was only caught because of an MRI she pushed for (and was not seen on mammogram or ultrasound) — so if you have dense breasts, insist upon an MRI. She had NO symptoms! Julie is going after this with everything she’s got and is getting treatment at one of the best cancer hospitals in the US: MD Anderson in Houston. But that means lots of travel expenses—flights, rental cars/Ubers, hotels/Airbnbs, dog boarding… not to mention medical bills, insurance/Cobra premiums, wigs, acupuncture, etc.

Starting on Friday, January 3, Julie will be getting the Keynote 522 regimen (6 months of immunotherapy and chemo followed by a double mastectomy, radiation, and then 6 more months of immunotherapy). Julie gets paid by the article and we aren’t sure how much this will affect her ability to write yet.

I wish we could take the cancer away but I hope we can take some of the financial stress away through this GoFundMe. Julie has been there for so many of us and now is our chance to be there for her. Please keep her in your prayers and send her every good vibe you’ve got! She has so much to live for including Seena graduating college in May. This cancer is tough but Julie is tougher.
