Support Julie Barron through chemo & recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Meran, and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Julie Barron, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. My goal is to raise enough money so that Julie does not have to continue working while undergoing chemotherapy and can focus on her recovery and her two children. All donations will go directly to Julie to offset medical costs and cover living expenses for herself and her kids while she undergoes treatment.

An MRI in the fall revealed a malignant tumor on Julie's ovary, and after major abdominal surgery on December 31, 2024, Julie was diagnosed with a very rare form of mucinous carcinoma. Anyone who knows Julie understands that she is one in a million, and her cancer diagnosis is even more rare - there are only 12 documented cases worldwide. In addition to surgery, Julie will commence chemotherapy in late February.

Julie has sole care of her two children, one of whom suffers from a complex medical condition herself, necessitating numerous hospital stays and constant advocacy over the past few years. In addition to her daughter's condition and her own cancer diagnosis, over the past year Julie has faced a major legal issue (through no fault of her own) along with an unexpected, crippling house repair which necessitated her having the entire roof of her house rebuilt, at great expense. Just the uncovered medical expenses for Julie and her daughter combined with legal costs totaled $15,000 this past year.

Despite all these challenges, Julie somehow manages to continue working at a high level and strives constantly to provide everything she can for her children. Even with what feels like every obstacle against her, she is always present and loving with her daughters, is their biggest advocate and truly lives to give them the best life possible. Being a single mom and supporting your kids while getting chemotherapy is already too much for someone to face alone. While Julie's family is supportive, they do not live in Alberta, and she will need all the help she can get to get through this next step. Please join me in offsetting Julie's costs so this is "all" she needs to do.

Julie’s oncologists are hopeful that with aggressive treatment now, this cancer will be curable. I want to give Julie the opportunity to simply relax about her finances until she’s able to return to work (hopefully before the end of the year)- knowing that her bills will be paid and that her children can continue with their lives as “normally” as possible.

Julie is the type of friend who called me every day and listened to me cry through tough times. She had homemade chicken soup waiting for me on one of the worst days of my life. She is strong, beautiful, caring and truly exceptional. I'd like more than anything to show her that she does not have to do this alone. No donation is too small - thank you for supporting my friend.
