Scott Holsonback went home to be the Lord on January 23, 2021, leaving behind his beloved wife Julie and 19-month old daughter, Maddie. He was deeply loved by so many and is truly missed. This fundraiser has been created by Scott's friends and family to help Julie and Maddie transition financially. All funds will go directly to Julie to immediately support whatever cost of living needs she may have.
Julie shared these words at Scott's memorial service. Our heart's desire is to help make her and Maddie's new normal less burdensome:
"As the world continued to spin for everyone else on January 23rd, 2021, mine completely stopped. I somehow became a single mother and widow in less than 24 hours. I lost my best friend, my confidant, the love of my life, my support, my comfort, my person. My person - he was my person - who I didn't always like but constantly and confidently loved. The man God had me wait so patiently for. The imperfect man to those who didn't know him but the perfect man for me (despite his flaws). He was the best father. Maddie adored him. He was the fun one (as most dads are) while I was the caregiver. But when push came to shove, Scott would have laid down his life for Maddie. I believe with all my heart that is, in essence, what he thought he was doing that early Saturday morning. While his thoughts were that he wasn't good enough, that somehow we would be better off without him, that he wasn't worthy of our love, the reality is he was our love!!! He was who kept us calm in the storms, safe in the uncertainty, and humble in the good times. He did that in the flesh - but God does that always! God is our strength and our refuge. He gives hope to the brokenhearted. I don't know what Maddie and I are going to do or what this 'new normal' looks like. I don't know what our long term plans involve, but I do know that we will be okay. We rest in the knowledge that God surrounds us with His love. He will not let us fall. He will not fail us."
Julie would also want to urge anyone who is struggling with addiction, depression, or anxiety to PLEASE call a friend or seek help. These illnesses are very real, so please please please seek the help you need. Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255 If you would like to connect with Julie or follow her and Maddie's journey, please visit https://www.facebook.com/julie.patrick.56.
We thank you for your generosity and sharing this fundraiser in memory of our dear friend Scott. We are confident Julie will appreciate every dollar given and steward it well toward her and Maddie's short- and long-term needs.
