Support Julie and Its Artists: A Bold and Urgent Reimagining

About the Project

Julie is a new theater production, a daring reimagining of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, set against the backdrop of today’s New York City.

This production reexamines Strindberg’s classic story through a sharp, contemporary lens. It explores class, gender, and performative feminism in a city where privilege and identity constantly intersect.

Our adaptation features an all-Asian cast, a deliberate choice that challenges the assumptions of who gets to tell “universal” stories on American stages. Through Julie, we’re re-asking questions that still pulse with urgency: Who holds power, and who performs it? How do gender and class dynamics shift when filtered through 21st-century New York? What does feminism look like when filtered through race, culture, and performance?

Why We Need Your Help!

Everyone on our creative and production team, from actors and designers to stage managers, directors and all production crew, is currently working without pay.

On average, each artist is putting in at least 20 hours a week, balancing survival jobs while creating something meaningful, intimate, and politically charged.

We believe that art should never come at the cost of the artists, which is why we’re asking for your support.

Our goal of $5,000 will allow us to offer small stipends ($150–$250 each) to the dedicated artists who are pouring their time, passion, and labor into Julie.

What Your Contribution Supports

Every dollar you donate goes directly to the artists behind Julie. Your support helps pay our actors, designers, and crew modest stipends, cover rehearsal space and materials, and support community outreach and accessibility efforts so this show can reach more people.

No donation is too small. Every bit helps us make this work sustainable.
