Support Julie and Her Daughter's Recovery from 2025 KY Flood

Hello, my name is Julie Terrell. I am a single mom, who was impacted by the flood on April 5th. My daughter and I live in the apartments on Walter Todd Drive in Frankfort, KY. That night, the water rose to about 4 to 5 feet in our apartment and ruined everything on our 1st floor. We are currently staying in a local hotel- however, we don't know how long we will be able to stay here. Right now it's just day to day, trying to figure out what to do next.

We lost all of our furniture, appliances, vital documents, pictures, clothes and electronics. I have renters insurance, however- I didn't have a "Flood rider" (not that I even knew to ask for that)- so the contents are not covered. I do not receive SNAP, so also, all of our food was ruined, therefore I am not able to get replacement on food items either.

As a person in recovery for the last 7 years, I have rebuilt a good life for my daughter and I, in this apartment. I am no stranger to life rebuilding- but this disaster, has really tested my endurance. I am asking for any help financially, with furniture replacement and funds for temporary housing. We will have to find a place to live, until our apartment is repaired and that could take 4 to 6 months, although I have hope, the Housing Authority of Frankfort will do it's best to get us back home, as quickly as humanly possible. The Housing Authority has been AMAZING and I am so grateful to them, my family and friends and I am BLESSED- because some, don't have a support system. This was our home, our safe space, our Oasis and I believe with help, we can make it safe again.
