Support Julia's Dream: Harvard Educational Opportunity
Donation protected
My name is Natalie Marx and I am raising money for my daughter, Julia. She was nominated by one of her teachers for a prestigious eduational opportunity at Harvard University. The program, The Academies at Harvard, offers 10 different week-long courses on-campus in Boston, MA for a variety of subjects such as Business, Finance, Pre-Med, Government, and Coding. Julia was selected from thousands of nominees to apply for entrance to one of these elite educational opportunities.
When she submitted her application, Julia applied for three different courses: International Politics, Pre-Med Biology & Chemistry, and Pre-Law, hoping to be selected for one of these amazing workshops. Julia is currently in ninth grade and a very intelligent student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA across all her classwork, including three advanced-placement classes. We were hoping for her and believed she had a great chance to be chosen for one of these limited-opportunity academies. So, we were surprised - but not surprised - when she received acceptance letters for ALL THREE of the academies she chose! We're very excited for her to have this learning opportunity, especially as we live in a very small rural community and our small school is sadly limited in the courses they are able to provide.
Being able for her to attend the Academies at Harvard would give Julia the tools to get a head start on her secondary education goals. Our issue right now is paying her tuition - while the Academies don't begin until June, tuition is required in ONE WEEK to secure her placement. Initial fees per course are $2,000 - a total of $6,000 for all three Academies. Julia received a total discount of $600 as a special nominee and qualified for additonal financial aid of $2,100 which reduces the total tuition to $3,300 - a huge help. Unfortunately, with the rapidly approaching deadline, we're unable to afford that lump-sum payment right now.
If you know Julia, you know she really deserves this special opportunity and we're looking for your help in allowing her to achieve it. What we're asking for today will cover her tuition costs alone. Her airfare, lodging, and incidentals (food, transportation, etc.) are additonal costs we are also going to have to provide, but we will have time between now and June to fund those items. Just being able to pay the tuition is our goal and would be tremendously helpful. We thank you in advance for your consideration, kindness, and generosity to help Julia to succeed!
