Julian Tringale was born on February 26th, 2025, via C-section due to complications during labor. Immediately following his birth, he had to be intubated and put on a ventilator because he was not breathing on his own. He had no muscle tone and no movement for several hours. He was taken to the NICU right away where he received an IV in his umbilical cord, an ultrasound of his brain, and a continuous EEG to monitor his brain activity for seizures. Because of the time he spent without enough oxygen (it’s unknown how long his body was in distress before the C-section), he has to remain on a cooling blanket for 72 hours. This keeps his body around 92 degrees Fahrenheit, slowing his body and brain function enough to heal and prevent further damage. He has not been able to be held at all yet because of the cooling. The doctors in the NICU do not know what caused this all to happen to Julian, and they also don’t know if he will have brain damage or delays, or how severe. One thing we all do know is that he is a fighter… he is now breathing on his own with just CPAP, so his breathing tube has been removed! It’s unknown how long he will have to remain in the NICU.
His mom, Heidi, is a server with no maternity leave and is going to need to be off work longer than expected. Please help show Heidi some support as she is a single mom and this is not the experience any of us expected for her firstborn baby.
