If you know me, you know I hate doing this—but at this point, we don’t have any other options until our first paychecks arrive in August. Our family is drowning in bills, and we just can’t keep up anymore.

It all started when I was laid off due to cuts made by Trump to all probationary employees. On top of that, I was assaulted by a coworker while I was 32 weeks pregnant. Because I was still on probation, they took his side. I begged the police to file a report so I could press charges, but they never did. I reached out to multiple lawyers and got no response. I eventually had to stop trying because the stress was affecting my pregnancy.

My fiancé was working a lot and picking up extra hours, and we were able to save a decent amount before the baby came. But then he was fired—basically for being with me during my 32-hour labor and for leaving work early after we were hit head-on by the tornado. We contacted lawyers about that too, but again, no help.

We’ve used up our retirement and every bit of savings just to survive and keep food in the fridge. After two months of not being able to pay bills in full, we’re now completely behind. We have a three-month-old baby, and it’s far too hot to be living in a car. If we don’t catch up on rent, we’re going to be evicted in about three weeks. And now we have to pay $150 by the 25th or the electricity gets shut off—no AC in this heat is not safe.

This is not where we thought we’d be, and this is absolutely our last resort. We’re trying everything we can. We just don’t know what else to do anymore.
