On Thursday, November 1st, the Soffs received a phone call telling them every parent's worst nightmare: Their 5-year-old son, Julian, had Burkitt's lymphoma.
Over the coming days, Julian's path became clearer. Julian is stage 3b. Julian has tumors on his neck and kidneys. While not the best news, it's also not the worst. Over the next 5-6 months, Julian will receive aggressive chemo in 21-day cycles. Because of the type of chemo Julian needs, he will be hospitalized for days at a time, and there certainly will be complications.
The money raised will go to offset logistical costs that arise when you have one child in long term hospital care, and another healthy child at home. It will cover parking, transportation, and all the other countless items that inevitably come up during such stressful times as this.
