This GoFundMe is for Julia Newkirk of Ironton, Ohio, also known as the one who has the popular group "In the Know Ironton City and Lawrence County Residents" on Facebook. This woman has been battling since June 4, 2021, the day she got her diagnosis. After many trips to Cleveland and many tests, it was determined to be stage 4 adenocarcinoma lung cancer that has metastasized to the lymph nodes in the chest and neck and has done damage to her cranial nerves, leaving the left side of her face paralyzed. She has had several surgeries, many tests, and many, many medications and trials to see what would help stabilize the cancer as there is no cure as of today.

Her husband took her to her appointments and scans, and after meeting with doctors at Cleveland Clinic, they got bad news that all cancer is worsening and there’s unfortunately not much more they can do. So they have put her in the Cleveland Clinic hospital and are trying to stabilize her so that she can be sent home to palliative care and then to possible hospice care if and when needed. But at this time, her dear husband had to be sent back home because they weren't prepared for staying in Cleveland, and he needed his meds. The hospital doesn't allow him to stay in the ICU, and they do not have the $100 a day it would take for him to travel back and forth and definitely do not have the funds for nightly hotels. So what we as a community want to do is to raise funds so he can stay up there and that she is not left there in the Cleveland hospital to battle all this on her own.
