On July 6th 2026, I will have hip surgery. (Hip-hip, hooray!) I am asking for help with medical bills and two months of living expenses. Asking for help is hard. If possible, please gift anonymously. <3
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jules (& Cheese)

FAQs:
Why are you having surgery?
The labrum of my left hip joint is torn, and that was likely caused by hypermobility. The hip arthroscopy procedure will reattach the labrum and tighten the capsule ligaments of the joint, preventing future injury.
What does the recovery period look like?
It is estimated that I will be on crutches/walker for 6 weeks, and I will wear a hip brace for 3 months. I will not be able to work for much of this period - my job requires me to be on my feet with frequent bending and squatting.
Where are you having the surgery?
My orthopedic surgeon is Dr Paul Watson with OrthoNebraska. His team, who have all been super kind and helpful, specializes in this type of procedure.
Why do you need help financially?
As a part-time city employee, I do not qualify for partial wages with FMLA. I do love my job at the library and have been there almost 3 years.
Why do you only work part-time?
I have a neurological condition that gives me chronic pain, fatigue, and some other stuff. I am receiving treatment for this chronic illness but there is no magical cure.
Is this why I've seen you with a cane / walking stick / limp in the past year?
Yes.
How did you arrive at this number?
Rent = 650 x 2 months
Average Utilities = 150 x 2 months
Average Medical = 350 x 2 months
Hip Abduction Brace & Clothing = 200
Post-Surgery Physical Therapy = 1000
Post-Insurance Surgery Fees = 1500
Is there an alternative way I can support you?
On the side, I sell many perfumes here at my shop on the BPAL forum: Skyturtles Culls the Stash
Or if people want to come do my chores while I'm recovering, I won't say no lol
