Support Juka's Journey to Recovery from devastating TBI
Donation protected

Hi, my name is Sol Valarezo. I am helping my 19-year-old nephew who suffered a devastating accident in July. This is his story:
Juan Camilo Valarezo Perez, or JUKA to all of us who love him, is a 19-year-old Ecuadorian, a passionate skater and guitarist, and a top-scoring forward for his soccer team, at Cardinal Spellman High School. He put his heart and soul into the team and left everything on the field. He is the leader of the school’s official cheering section, a beloved friend, and a standout student, always attentive to others, who recently graduated high school with dreams of studying mechanical engineering.
He had a tragic accident on Friday, July 19, right after his graduation party. He took a wrong step while trying to get over a terrace and fell headfirst, causing severe brain trauma, multiple fractures in the frontal sinus and face, internal hematomas, and brain swelling, which could lead to behavioral changes.
He has undergone two craniectomies, and unfortunately, he has a fistula leaking cerebrospinal fluid, which could cause a severe internal brain infection. To prevent this, a third surgery is required. Juka remains hospitalized and is fighting hard to recover.
Hospital expenses are extremely high, prohibitively so in a country like Ecuador, where the public system is struggling, and good healthcare is a luxury for the few. We urgently need your generous contribution, which would help a good and exemplary young man return to who he was and fully realize his potential.
All donated funds will go toward paying the high costs of the surgeries, intensive therapy, and hospital stay. This will help Juka's parents with the long road to recovery that lies ahead.
For Juka!!
