Hi, my name is Niki and I am Judy and Tim's daughter. Thank you for being here and taking time to read her story, and considering contributing to her healing.
In January 2020, Judy was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. Through the help of chemo, surgery, alternative therapies, and unwavering support and prayers from family and friends, Judy was able to beat cancer within 4 months of diagnosis. A true miracle and testament to her positive outlook and endless courage!
Unfortunately, in October 2020, Judy’s cancer returned - this time with mets to her liver. By December 2020, an additional pelvic mass had appeared. Judy started chemotherapy again in January 2021, this time with horrible side effects, increasing amounts of pain, and no success with shrinking the cancer. At this point, bone mets near the tail and hip bones were discovered through an MRI. A second opinion was sought at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and was agreed that trying a new chemo was the best option. A second type of chemo was started in March 2021. Although this chemo was tolerated better, the pain started to become unbearable and Judy’s quality of life suffered immensely.
Through a new CT and MRI ordered part way through chemo treatments to dive further into where the pain was coming from, we learned that the chemo was not working and the cancer was growing. At this point it was determined that all conventional therapy options that they could offer were exhausted, oncology treatments would be stopped, and we were encouraged by her medical team to seek alternative therapies - something we’ve been passionate about and had been researching since the beginning. Although this news was scary, we are determined to stay hopeful in the many resources out there and the countless stories of survivors in her position.
While some may hear this news and think of it as a death sentence, we see it as a life sentence. An opportunity to achieve a better, healthier quality of life for what's to come, and we so appreciate your support as we embark on this next chapter.
In the meantime, Judy has gotten a pain pump to manage the excruciating pain she had been dealing with for far too long. We have high hopes this will allow her to get some normalcy back, and allow her to enjoy the things she loves again (working out, being out with friends and family, working, etc.) as we dive into this next chapter of her cancer journey.
Although this is the journey we least expected, we have faith in the countless hours of research and resources we’ve connected with to create her next steps and treatment plans through amazing, cutting-edge alternative therapies. Unfortunately, with alternative therapies comes no coverage by insurance and mounting financial costs to keep her on her healing journey - a burden nobody in her position should have to worry about while they fight for their life.
What will your donation contributions go to?
- Medications and Supplements: These work to kill the cancer while also supporting her body and immune system - each are crucial parts of her healing. These cost around $500/month for her protocol
- Healing and Comfort Measures: Judy has found great benefit in infrared sauna sessions, acupuncture, mind-body healing, vitamin infusions, etc. that has not only helped her body stay strong and ease the discomfort of cancer, but has also contributed to maintaining a positive mindset and outlook during this process.
- Cancer Clinic Care: Judy has the opportunity to travel to Irvine, California to receive care from an amazing clinic called Cancer Center for Healing. She would spend 6-8 weeks there testing protocols, getting treatments, and learning how to treat herself once back home. Again, this option is not covered by insurance given that the therapies are not conventional cancer treatments (like chemo, radiation, immunotherapy), but are rather non-toxic, targeted approaches to killing her cancer specifically while supporting her entire body with supportive therapies. Your contributions will allow Judy to receive the care she needs from the clinic, help cover travel and accommodations related to her care there, and provide additional financial support while she has to be away from work.
Overall, your contributions give her an opportunity to fight and heal. It allows the Larson family to gain access to the resources and care they need to fight this cancer and improve their quality of life going forward, without the financial worry that can come with these treatments.
While asking for help has never been a strong suit for our family, we know how many of you have asked for this opportunity to provide help and assistance.
We’ve continued to be blown away by the support we’ve received from friends, family, and strangers near and far. The outpouring of love and offering is something we will never fully be able to express our gratitude for. Each one of you plays an important part in this journey and we hope you know just how blessed we feel by your support, prayers, and words.
We ask that you continue to pray for comfort, healing and guidance as we take these next steps! We promise to send updates along the way.
All the love,
The Larson Family
