Hellosies!
I am Judy Liu, a freshman at Stanford University and a passionate practitioner of Wushu, a form of Chinese martial arts, with a specialization in Taiji. I am excited to share that I have been selected to represent Team USA at the upcoming XXXI Summer University World Games, taking place in Chengdu, China, from July 28th to August 8th, 2023. Competing on the world stage is a tremendous honor, and I eagerly anticipate the chance to demonstrate my skills alongside other exceptional athletes from around the globe.
My Wushu journey began at the age of 12, and I quickly advanced in the sport. At 14, I qualified for the US Junior Wushu Team, winning gold and bronze at the 2018 World Junior Wushu Championships. In 2019, I secured a position on the US Wushu Team, competing in the World Wushu Championships and finishing 6th, which qualified me for the World Taolu Cup. In 2022, I was selected for Team USA for the World Games, but an injury hours before prevented me from performing. Nevertheless I have recovered and got back to training. I am deeply grateful for the support of my team and am committed to representing my country with pride.
The generous contributions received will be used to cover essential expenses for my participation in the games, including accommodations and travel costs.
I express my heartfelt gratitude for your support in helping me represent Team USA in Wushu at the SWUG. While this event marks a significant milestone in my journey, it is only one aspect of my broader mission to extend beyond competition. As a dedicated advocate for Chinese martial arts, I am unwavering in my commitment to promoting the benefits of Wushu and Taiji in the US.
