Friends + Family,
I am fortunate to be one of the many members of my family that have beaten cancer. In October, at 52, my youngest brother Judd was diagnosed with Stage IV cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer that originates in the bile ducts. Only about 8,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with this cancer each year. Due to its location, detection generally comes after the cancer has spread to other organs, making treatment difficult and equally aggressive. In Judd's case, the cancer has spread to the peritoneum, which is the membrane lining his abdomen. Surgery is not an option and chemotherapy treatments will be aggressive.
Judd is a family man. With his wife, Mylahn, his partner of 30 years, they have raised three great kids: Catalina, Evianne, and Asa. If you know Judd, you know that he is not going to give in and is determined to beat the odds so that he can continue to do the things he loves with his family.
He is currently being treated at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, which is over an hour from where he lives. His treatments will be aggressive and will have an impact on his ability to work and take care of his family. Medical procedures to date have resulted in medical bills that are not covered by health insurance. We are hoping to raise funds to pay medical bills, travel expenses for treatments, and assist with living expenses, such as gas, groceries, utilities, and other costs associated with this battle.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to allow Judd to focus on his treatments without the additional stress of paying the bills. Anything you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated - every little bit helps.
