For over 30 years, I’ve known Judah as a rare kind of human: steady-hearted, selfless, and quietly luminous. He’s one of those people who moves through the world with an open palm and an open heart, always ready to lift a burden, make someone laugh, or offer his presence when words won’t do. He’s not loud about it. He just shows up, over and over again, for his friends, animals, strangers, for anyone who needs a bit of grounding when the world gets heavy. He’s worked long hours doing whatever needs doing, because that’s who he is. Someone who gives more than he takes. Someone who says yes when others turn away. Someone who stands like a godfather figure in my daughter’s life: gentle, caring, and kind. A constant in a world that changes too fast.

And now- after a serious accident that’s left his body broken and his car totaled- it’s his turn to receive some of what he’s always offered others: care, dignity, and a path forward.

I’m reaching out with this fundraiser not as a cry for help, but as an offering. A way to call in the light for someone who has long been a lantern for others. Judah has never sought recognition- but if you’ve ever been lucky enough to know him, you know how deeply his quiet goodness matters.

This moment asks for community, for grace, for momentum. Judah deserves to heal with the peace of knowing he is not alone. Thank you for seeing him. Thank you for your support!

What Happened:

Judah was recently struck by another car while working a job he took on to help make ends meet. He was hit with enough force to total his vehicle and send him to the ER, where he remains as the trauma unit runs tests and monitors him closely. He is stable! We know so far that he’s suffering from excruciating pain, a broken sternum, and extensive bruising, with possible broken ribs and internal injuries still being evaluated. Again, he is stable but in a lot of pain, and we’re awaiting further clarity on the road ahead.

Why We’re Asking for Help:

This accident has left Judah unable to work, not just because he’s physically injured, but also because the car he relied on for transportation is now gone. He had gap insurance which only covered the remaining loan balance on the car he was working hard to pay off, leaving him without a vehicle and no means to replace it. On top of that, his rent and utilities are due, and like so many people living paycheck to paycheck, there’s no cushion for a moment like this.

Judah has always been the kind of person who shows up for others, without being asked & without hesitation. He is extraordinarily kind, and always selfless. He’s the kind of person who will help a friend move on his one day off, who checks in when you’re low, who stays late on the job just to make sure things are done right. He is good to the people around him, even when he suffers himself.

He’s the first to offer a hand, and now he needs all of ours.
