Support Judah's Bar Mitzvah Project for Kibbutz Eilon
Donation protected
My name is Judah Shaool. I turn 13 this November, and I am starting my Bar Mitzvah project. As I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for my “coming of age project,” one thing that really caught my eye was the conditions in northern Israel near the Lebanon border. After doing some research, I found Kibbutz Eilon. I was very fortunate to get a chance to speak with the kibbutz representative, Yossi Levy. (https://www.instagram.com/levysontheroad/) He shared insights on the war and various photos of his home and his community. I asked him many questions about what’s going on with his family, the people in his community, and how things are back in Israel. After speaking with him, I had one big takeaway—they need our help!!!
For Yossi and his community, I have two main goals. One is raising $10,000 through donations and philanthropy for their kibbutz and daily/long-term needs. And two, I’d also like to raise awareness, not only in my community, but in others around me.
During my conversation with Yossi, he explained that nearly 80,000 people who lived in northern Israel along and near the Lebanon border have now all been evacuated and displaced all over the state of Israel for the past eleven months. That 80,000 number includes Yossi and his family, plus his kibbutz of 1,300 people, all forced to evacuate because of the constant threat of missile attacks and drone strikes.
They have no idea when they will get to go back to their homes, and they have zero idea when they may have to pack up and move or be attacked by incoming missile strikes. On top of all this, they are still charged a mortgage and have many other expenses they must pay. Yossi said, “Just because there is a war doesn’t mean that all expenses disappear.”
For those reasons and more, that’s why our brothers and sisters in Israel need our help now more than ever! In conclusion, I ask you to help me reach my goal, but don’t do it for me—do it for the people in Israel. Our people in Israel.
