My name is Juan Olivo. On February 17th, 2026, at approximately 7:30 am, while on my way to work on veterans I was crossing over at the intersection when I was struck by a vehicle who made a sharp right turn without a concern to look for any oncoming traffic or pedestrians. Now, it is important I state I was wearing a reflective vest and my scooter also has reflective lights. The aftermath has been a horrible nightmare I was transferred from Del Rio to San Antonio, where they treated me for the traumatic injuries I sustained, such as a Broken Hip, Torn ligament on my hand, Loose teeth and major bruising and swelling to the body and requiring blood transfusion. This accident has caused my wife and I, major financial burden. While being at the hospital for a week and having to be transferred back home to Del Rio, I have been without a job as I am unable to work at the moment meaning our financial situation has worsened. My wife is working but it is not enough to cover the bills as I was the sole bread winner of the household. As of now we are behind 3 months of rent going on 4 now at risk of being evicted, our utility bills are piling up and our fridge has been running low and my hospital bills are flowing in. I do not have the financial means to cover these costs on my own, I humbly ask for your help and support that the community may offer.
