Support Juan Escamilla's Cancer Treatment Journey

My name is Debbie Escamilla. My husband is Juan Escamilla. We live in Plainview, Texas. Juan has been fighting Stage 4 Renal Cancer since May 2021. Over the last four years he has returned every three months to M. D. Anderson, where this journey began. As you can imagine, the expenses have taken a toll on our finances. But we learned just days ago that Juan met qualifications for and was therefore chosen to participate in a clinical study at M.D. Anderson. He has to be in Houston on July 27, to begin screening on the 28th, undergo a biopsy on the 29th, receive chemotherapy on July 30th and 31st, and on August 1st. Then his treatment will be administered on August 4th. Juan will have to return to M.D. Anderson every day that week and then once a week for the next two weeks. One of the conditions of his participation is that he must remain in close proximity to the hospital throughout this study. The study doesn’t include any financial assistance for travel, lodging, or food. Only the treatment on August 4th is provided to Juan free of cost. Of course, that is a huge blessing and something for which we are so grateful. As difficult as it is, we are asking for help with the expenses that are our responsibility. We are both retired and depend solely on our Social Security benefits. We simply don’t have the resources to pay these expenses. We’re turning to you because this treatment could very well save my precious husband’s life and possibly other lives through this research. We also ask that you pray for us and for the medical staff who will care for Juan.
