On September 29th, 2025, my father, Juan Carlos Rivas, was heading to work on the 595 when his life and our lives were changed forever. His vehicle was struck from behind, causing extensive vehicle damage and requiring him to be immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center Trauma Unit. Once there, he immediately began undergoing surgery for extensive injuries, most specifically to his back. Due to the injuries sustained, my father, Juan Carlos Rivas, is currently paralyzed from the waist down. We are hopeful and praying that advances in medical technology, along with therapy, will one day allow him to walk again. We are currently in the process of transferring him to a rehabilitation center during this difficult time. Any assistance would be appreciated as this will be a long, difficult road ahead.
